Justin Tibbitts
Science and Management Professional.
It's good to meet you.
With 18 years of direct experience in conducting science and managing science laboratories, I can help get your projects off the ground.
My first job, fresh out of grad school, was as a molecular biology tech at small start up company that focused on predictive and molecular toxicology. On my first day on the job, I was tasked with processing 240 mini preps, a spin column procedure that extracted DNA from a lot of genetically modified e. Coli cells. I figured out that since my centrifuge rotor held 24 micro centrifuge tubes, I would need to accomplish ten extractions to complete the days work.
I did this all day, every day for a couple of weeks. Then, I was trained to do differential display studies and from there microarray printing.
The goal of our company was to use the genetic information that we acquired through the differential display analysis to generate probes, which we would then print on our own custom microarrays. Ultimately, and for many reasons, this plan did not succeed. However, this first job, looking back on it, was a microcosm of my science and management  career thus far.
I started out in the lab as a technician and by working hard and being dependable, eventually rose to a leadership role. In my career, I have experienced the highs and lows of conducting science and managing scientific operations.
There have been times that I have been the only technician working in the lab to my current position as laboratory and facilities manager for one of the largest cancer research labs on the campus of Oregon Health and Sciences University, with a large technical staff and a yearly budget of over three million dollars.
This first job was one stop on a long journey that has taken me to my current position at OHSU.

I have learned many lessons through my varied experiences and I would like to share them with you. I have a lot to offer and I won't let you down.
Below are some of my more recent stops along my career journey,
